Bastrop ISD seeks help naming 9th elementary school after groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 1
The 105,000-square-foot school, which broke ground Oct. 1 as part of an ongoing bond project, is scheduled to open in summer 2025 in the Adelton neighborhood near FM 20 and Hwy. 71.
“This is the third new campus we have opened in the past three years,” Superintendent Barry Edwards said in a news release. “By 2022, more than 10 years will have passed since BISD opened its new school, Cedar Creek High School, in 2009.”

Founders Classic Academy Bastrop opens new campus
Founders Classical Academy of Bastrop has moved to a new campus site on Shiloh Road.
what’s new
The new site will consist of two buildings, one that will accommodate kindergarten through sixth grade and the other that will accommodate grades seven through 11. There is also a new playground and covered pavilion. Prior to the new campus, the school had been meeting at two separate churches in the area since 2021.
The campus opened early this fall for the 2024-2025 school year. Principal Stephanie Thomas said the school had developed a culture of younger and older students learning from each other under the new building.

Bastrop ISD updates recovery support as student drug use increases
Bastrop ISD trustees renewed the contract for student drug use and recovery services at the Oct. 15 board meeting. Officials explained that the update is necessary because drug use by students continues to increase.

A memorandum of understanding between the school district and Bluebonnet Trails Community Services, which provides counseling services, was first signed in 2022, according to agenda documents.
