1. Step into savanna traditions at the cottage shop
If you’re the type who loves a well-curated home store, or if you’re grateful for a good gift shop, the cottage shop is definitely worth a visit. This location has been part of the Savannah community for over 75 years and has shown it in all the best ways.
“The cottage shop is where Southern Charm meets timeless elegance. It’s more than a store. It’s tradition,” says owner Haley.
Inside you’ll find everything from premium Chinese and linens to crystal glassware and sweet little gifts. It’s the kind of shop where everything is thoughtful, warm and just a little nostalgic.
2. Eat the best bite of the savanna
There is a serious food game in Savannah. Whether you’re in the mood for something flashy or simply want a great sandwich, the city offers.
“The Savannah is full of quirky charm,” says Rebekah Vanartsdalen, owner of Vanartsdalen Events, a local event planning business known for creating personalized, memorable experiences. “There’s a lot to love, the food, the architecture, the atmosphere.”
A few spots? Grab a brunch in the Collins Quarter, lurp the oysters round with grey and cool them down with Leopold ice cream cones. This is a true savanna classic that has been around since 1919.

3. Visit Starland Yard, a must-see food truck park in Savannah
Check out Starland Yard in the Starland area for something a little more quirky (in a great way). This creative outdoor space is part of some food truck parks, part of the backyard hangouts and completely savannah.
“Starland Yard is a very fun and welcoming place and there’s something everyone can enjoy,” says Megroyston, co-owner of Elegant Savanna Wedding, a local wedding planner known for creating unforgettable experiences. If you’re newly engaged and are in the wedding planner market, grab some bites from a local food truck and then shake off by her shop to book your dream wedding.
Something is happening all the time here. Food truck spinning, live music, frozen drinks and lawn games. Whether you’re just looking for a place to go with friends or relax with your dog, Starland Yard is a good time.
4. Help the Savannah grow with a heart and history
One thing that makes a savanna special is how you can feel it’s historic and fresh at once. The mix of old and new things can appear everywhere, even in businesses that help your business grow.
“Whether it’s renovations in the Victorian district or helping small businesses grow, we are proud to be able to help people thrive in the city,” says the team at TEG Lease, a family-owned company that offers portable storage and mobile offices.
For over 30 years in the area, they have helped countless residents and entrepreneurs take their next step without losing sight of what makes the Savanna unique. This is another way for the city to balance progress and conservation.
5. Wander the artsy streets of historic districts
The Savannah is known for its stunning architecture, but the city’s art scene is equally impressive. A stroll through the historic district brings a mix of galleries, studios and public art that feel like an outdoor museum. Whether you admire local art or stumble over hidden galleries, inspiration is everywhere.
From the bustling Telfair Museum to the small but charming Savannah Art Center, there’s always something new. Even if you just wander, you will live the artistic soul of the Savannah to come across outdoor displays and street performers.
