Controversial economic commentator Dave Ramsey has publicly declared his support for Donald Trump, claiming he doesn’t care if it means he will lose supporters.
The businessman and podcast personality revealed his partisan preferences for his show, “The Ramsey Show.”
“People have threatened me with things like, ‘I’m going to cancel.’ That’s hard,” Ramsey told his millions of listeners. “I own the show, so I can’t cancel it. So you can leave, but you can’t cancel me.”
The podcast host, who is estimated to be worth $150 million, said he has considered both Trump and Kamala Harris’ platforms on immigration, firearms, climate change, taxes and foreign affairs, and supports the Republican presidential nominee. He defeated his own decision.
“I’m looking at ideas and seeing which ideas land on which side of the aisle…I can check the boxes very clearly and quickly on these two candidates,” Ramsey said. “So I’m going to say I’m not voting for Donald Trump, I’m voting for Donald Trump because I’m checking these boxes, but a lot of those boxes are more on that side than on the other side. It’s on the side.”
Ramsey’s support for Trump will come as no surprise to his fans. The scandal-plagued financial leader welcomed the former president on his show last month, speaking amicably about economic policy and inflation plans.
Immediately after the interview, Ramsey spoke on FOX Business, praising Trump’s policies.
The podcast host previously said that neither Trump nor Harris are “fiscally responsible people,” but that Trump, who calls himself a conservative “fiscally and culturally,” especially The president emphasized his belief that we should do “as little as possible” to the economy.
His financial consulting firm has been the source of repeated controversy, having been sued several times for unfairly firing staff who violated the company’s conservative Christian code of conduct. In 2015, the company fired at least nine employees for having sex before marriage.
Ramsey’s company was accused of continuing to violate COVID-19 protocols during the pandemic.
