Maryland Senate Candidates – Angela Allbrooks and Larry Hogan
SALISBURY, Md. – Marylanders are paying close attention to the U.S. Senate race. The race has proven contentious from the start, and with just over two weeks until Election Day, it continues to be so.
Former Maryland governor and Republican candidate Larry Hogan didn’t hold back in an exclusive interview with WMDT Newscaster Rob Petry, slamming his Democratic opponent on the issue of illegal immigration.
The attack comes on the heels of a Daily Caller article targeting Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, who said in 2019, “I have no interest in immigration.” It emphasizes the statement that is said to be.
That is Hogan’s position, which he says has not changed and that Alsobrooks’ actions within the county reflect that position.
“This is outrageous and unacceptable, and her position remains the same today, because not only did she say it at the time, but she also said it was the largest jurisdiction in Maryland to cooperate with ICE.” “We have put dangerous and violent criminals, rapists, murderers and gang members on the streets,” Hogan said. “In my opinion, she didn’t get the promotion because of the terrible job she’s done.”
We reached out to Angela Allbrooks’ camp and issued the following statement to refute these claims.
“This is getting a little bit desperate. At Angela’s direction, the county is certainly cooperating with ICE. And as Larry knows, Angela is a rapist, He is the only person who prosecutes gang members and murderers and puts them behind bars.”
This back-and-forth over illegal immigration is just the latest in a number of issues on which both sides have attacked each other. Last month, Hogan criticized Alsobrooks after a CNN report claimed he took advantage of tax breaks.
Mr. Hogan and Mr. Alsobrooks will face off in the Nov. 5 general election, with the winner elected to replace retiring Sen. Ben Cardin.
