Feedback wanted: Owasso Public Schools will host a community feedback forum on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Sixth Grade Center (8101 N. 129th East Ave.) to discuss the potential bond package that will be presented to voters in 2025. We will discuss projects and priorities. An additional forum is scheduled for November 7th.
Part-time educator update: At Monday’s meeting, the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education announced four more non-qualified teachers who will teach at Hamilton Elementary School and John Hope Franklin Elementary School, Edison Middle School and Booker T. Washington High School. It was voted 5-2 to hire an instructor.
The two no votes were cast by Genetti Marshall and Calvin Moniz. Since the beginning of the school year, the TPS board has approved staffing requests for 23 non-certified part-time teachers, with Moniz voting against them each time.
Emergency Certification Update: The Oklahoma State Board of Education approved 282 emergency certification requests as part of the consent agenda at Thursday’s meeting without discussion or discussion.

To date, the Board has approved 4,062 emergency teacher licensure applications this fiscal year, including seven school districts and charter schools: Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Putnam City, Midwest City-DelCity, Lawton, and Broken Arrow. Each has applied for more than 100 similar licenses. , Moore and Epic Charter Schools.
The five areas with the most requests for certification so far this year are elementary education, early childhood education, school counseling, English and physical education, and health and safety.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The Oklahoma Excellence Foundation is accepting applications from fifth- and eighth-grade teachers until January 21 to join the Colonial Williamsburg Teachers Association, which will be established in June 2025.
The application is available at ofe.org. The fellowship includes program activities, airfare, accommodation, and most meals. Each educator will also receive a $300 stipend for classroom materials.
Instructional Shifts: Friday is a remote learning day for Broken Arrow, Catoosa, Jenks and Prue. Verdigris was absent from Friday’s session.
School Board Calendar: Tulsa Tech’s Board of Education is scheduled to meet on Monday.
KIPP Tulsa’s board of directors is scheduled to meet Tuesday.
