Number of Arkansas students applying for taxpayer-funded education freedom account vouchers will increase from 6,495 in 2023-24 to 18,490 in 2024-25 (including 3,111 homeschool students) did.
Actual active participants in the program, which provides state aid for the cost of private and home education (including tuition fees for a maximum number of students), increased from 5,548 last year to 14,297 this year; Another 3,318 people are on the waiting list.
A newly released report on state school voucher programs authorized by last year’s LEARNS Act estimates that the number of private schools approved to receive state aid for students will be 97 in 2023-2024. It is also shown that the number of schools has increased from 128 schools to 128 schools this year.
The total number of service providers approved to receive Education Freedom Account program funding this year now exceeds 400, according to a report from the Arkansas Department of Education to Arkansas lawmakers.
