I am sure Doge has a long history as a definition of textbooks of excessive compromise and underestimation. There were many reasons why I was skeptical about the chance to achieve their goals. But I want to focus on simple reality.
In 2024, federal spending was $6.8 trillion. Of that $6.8 trillion, $4.1 trillion was so-called forced spending on programs burned into existing laws. More than $3 trillion of those awarded to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Currently, there is no doubt that each of these programs is fraud and abuse. But even if Doge could cut 100% of its fraud completely, it wouldn’t have been that much in the face of that $3 trillion. And the people at Doge simply lacked the institutional knowledge necessary to accurately identify many of the things that were not fraud or in vain or in vain. In every system, there is always something that makes outsiders seem impressive and dramatic anomalies, but today there is a completely common explanation. Many of Elon Musk’s early dramatic statements, which claim that there are more socially active security accounts than the total American population, were examples of examples of disrupting himself by not understanding the basics. So the gusts of winds to forced spending on their activities were never on a promising path.
The interest on debt is not technically essential in the sense above, but is not exactly an optional EISHHER unless the US believes it needs another reduction in its credit rating. That interst came from another $900 billion in the 2024 budget.
So the so-called discretionary spending will leave a total of $1.8 trillion left. Operations, maintenance, servicemer payments and all other full military budgets account for less than half of the discretionary budget. For the other half of your discretionary spending, you can look at the infographic link above to see how the half is split. While discretionary spending may seem the easiest way to reel, the simple fact is that even the cuts to this region do nothing much to stop the deficit. For example, sometimes you can see news articles on how millions of dollars were spent in the ComplyCally Ausdaling Sounding Study, such as if millions of dollars of taxpayer money had been changed in Circinally’s muscle mating behavior, if Clicks Click or Whatver, if Clownfish mating behavior was changed. (To be clear, it is a completely imaginary study I invented for comic effects, and it consists of only $41 billion in total as science, space and technology, not submissively, as science, space and technology – only about 2% of the spending. Maximizes media coverage. But you’ll get serious about fixing the deficit.
Creating a serious dent in the federal deficit requires significant reductions in forced spending that raises most of federal spending. Anyone who wants to redua federal spending but doesn’t talk about changes to the Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and military spending series will be a non-starter from the start. These are all popular programs for Vray. Stupid research on Clownfish makes targets much easier. Politicians who want to take serious measures against federal spending should focus on the former. But politicians whose top priorities are re-elected will spend most of their time talking about the latter.
