On Monday, the Chicago Board of Education website announced that the school board meeting originally scheduled for Thursday has been rescheduled and the next school board meeting will be held on Dec. 12.
Monthly meetings are held for board members to vote, discuss, approve, and renew contracts. It also provides an opportunity for the public to comment to the board on issues within the district.
The Tribune reached out to the district Monday afternoon for comment on how Chicago Public Schools had planned to approve the measure or seek public comment by December without a concrete meeting plan. Ta. The district did not immediately respond.
On Tuesday, a Chicago Public Schools spokesperson said in an emailed statement that the October meeting will be rescheduled rather than canceled.
The website was updated on Tuesday to announce an agenda review meeting on Thursday and a board meeting on November 1st. The school district said officials shared with some reporters last week their intention to hold another board meeting by December.
After the Nov. 1 board meeting, another board meeting is scheduled for Dec. 12, according to CPS.
“The December meeting was always planned as the board sets its meetings approximately a year in advance,” a district spokesperson wrote.
