The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation has awarded funding to 20 teachers to support agricultural education and FFA programs in Nebraska.
“The Dr. Allen G. and Kay L. Brzek Teacher Retention Award is an investment in the future of Nebraska agriculture,” said Megan Shafer, executive director of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation. “We are extremely proud to be able to help these teachers stay in their classrooms and communities.The number of schools offering agricultural education and FFA is growing, and our graduates are becoming part of Nebraska’s largest The return on investment is clear as we continue to serve the industry.”
Target participants are all agricultural education teachers in their first to fifth years of teaching. Teachers are eligible to earn awards over time.
This award recognizes the contributions of teachers and supports their efforts as their influence in the classroom, FFA chapter, and community grows each year.
The award, a long-standing program of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation, was renamed in honor of a bequest gift from Dr. Allen Brzek. Dr. Brzek was an agricultural education teacher, the first director of the Nebraska LEAD program, and a founding member of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation Board of Directors.
There are 20 scholarship recipients.
