More than 170,000 Annie Mac Home Mortgage customers whose names and Social Security numbers were exposed to hackers in August will receive free credit monitoring and identity theft protection, the company announced Monday. .

“Unfortunately, no organization is immune to the growing threat of cybercrime, and Annie Mac has recently become a target for cybercriminals looking to compromise sensitive information,” said Annie Mac CEO. After conducting a “slow and comprehensive review process” of the affected files, the company confirmed that it had verified its 171,074 affected customers, state and federal regulators, and the three major credit bureaus (Equifax , Experian, TransUnion).
Affected customers will be provided with CyEx’s “Identity Defense Complete” service. This includes single-agency credit monitoring, monthly VantageScore 3.0 credit score and tracker, change of address and dark web monitoring, and $1 million in identity theft insurance.
