Lawyers for Oren and Aron Alexander will be back in court Monday to reconsider the bail a court granted the brothers Friday on sexual assault charges filed against them in Miami. did.
The brothers did not appear in the Miami-Dade courtroom Monday, but Judge Roddy Jean and defense attorneys, including Joel Denaro, briefly discussed bond terms.
Mr. Oren, a high-income luxury goods producer and co-founder of Official Partners, has a proposed $3 million bond secured by his father’s home in Bal Harbor and a corporate surety from Roy Zemrock of Bail Miami. He received a $25,000 bond. He was also sentenced to house arrest with GPS monitoring and ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.
Aron, an executive at a private security company, received a $2 million bond, also secured by his father’s home, and a $25,000 corporate bond from Zemrock. Similarly, Aron was placed under house arrest with a GPS monitor and ordered to stay away from the alleged victims.
On Friday, Judge Jean said he intended to sign the terms of the bond if his attorney could provide assurances that bond funds would be available, which was supposed to be Monday. But Denaro said in court Monday that he first tried to send certified copies of the court orders to the state so he could see them, but those orders were never delivered. Mr. Denaro then requested that the current matter be reset by Thursday, which Judge Jean agreed to.
During Monday’s hearing, Judge Jean also said details about Oren and Aron’s house arrest “may be the biggest hurdle of all.”
The brothers are also facing federal charges for sex trafficking, so the state will have to wait and see how things play out in federal court. Even if the state provides a guarantee, Oren or Aron will not be fitted with a house arrest GPS monitor unless they are fully insured by all jurisdictions that hold them, state and federal.
Judge Jean added that he expects it will be much more difficult for the brothers to obtain bail in federal court because the nature of the charges against them vary widely in federal court.
Mr. Oren’s Official co-founder, Tal Alexander, also faces federal sex trafficking charges, but was denied bail at a hearing Friday. Denaro said during Monday’s hearing that his attorneys have filed a motion to reconsider that decision.
Miami’s charges against Oren and Aron are related to three separate alleged rape incidents in 2016, 2017 and 2021. All three were related to Oren.
Last Wednesday, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced that the brothers were arrested in Florida on sex trafficking crimes.
“The Alexander brothers allegedly conspired to use their wealth and position to prey on innocent women and force them to perform sexual acts,” FBI Assistant Director in Charge James E. Dennehy said in a press statement. said. “We cannot allow this type of questionable behavior to go unchecked. Predators who force sexual acts on their victims cannot and will not be tolerated. FBI investigations into these types of incidents , is only possible through the courage of victims to come forward.”
In recent months, all three brothers have been accused of sexually assaulting and raping women dating back to 2010. As the report further developed, dozens of women came forward to represent their brothers, accusing them of similar acts.
Tracy Tutor, the Los Angeles star of Million Dollar Listing and a Douglas Elliman agent, told the New York Times that she believed Oren had drugged her, and Jessica Cohen, a top Elliman producer, told the New York Times that she believed Oren had drugged her. He told the NYT that he believed one or more of his brothers had drugged him before he woke up at night. In a Manhattan hospital, he was unable to reconstruct his memory of the night before.
