The offer represents a 24% premium over Taylor Morrison’s May 29 closing price of $58.50.
Berkshire CEO Greg Abel said the conglomerate ultimately intends to combine Taylor Morrison’s operations with Clayton Homes and other building products businesses in an integrated platform.
“Over time, we look forward to integrating our field-build home construction operations into a unified platform that will enable us to bring the dream of homeownership to more Americans,” Abel said in the announcement.

Taylor Morrison Chairman and CEO Cheryl Palmer, who will remain in her role after the transaction closes, called the merger a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” in a statement and said Berkshire’s capital strength and long-term investment philosophy are well-suited to the multi-year development cycle of residential construction.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to Taylor Morrison shareholder approval and regulatory approval. After the transaction closes, Taylor Morrison will go private and its stock will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.
