We knew big changes were coming to real estate reality TV in 2026, but the news that broke last week was surprising to say the least. ‘Selling Sunset’ Season 10 will see major cast changes, with only four members set to return.
what happened
After the Season 9 reunion of Selling Sunset, Chrishell Stause announced that she would not be returning next season due to a feud with her ex-best friend Emma Hernan.
On April 10, 2026, Gio Helou, a cast member on Selling Sunset’s sister series Selling the OC, announced on his Instagram that the show was on “indefinite hiatus,” saying, “I think you can read between the lines.”
On the same day, Cosmopolitan reported, “Surprisingly, drama between the cast isn’t the reason for filming delays. Rather, the problem is Selling the OC’s sister show, Selling Sunset. Sources say filming has been ‘stuck’ amid ‘cast changes’ and Netflix is prioritizing getting it ‘launched’ again.”
What’s the problem? More than half of the cast will not return. They include Chrishell Stause, Nicole Young, Chelsea Razkani, Emma Hernan, Mary Bonet, Alana Gold and Sandra Vergara. Who is left? Amanza Smith, Bre Tiessi, Brett Oppenheim, Jason Oppenheim. Christine Quinn and Heather Rey El Moussa also return this season. There are also rumors that Selling the OC’s Alex Hall will be moving to Los Angeles.
Mary Bonnet’s views
To find out more about what’s going on, Inman spoke to original cast member Mary Bonnet. Below is the conversation, edited for length and clarity.
Inman: I hear you won’t be returning for Season 10. Is that true?
Bonnet: That’s right. I don’t disagree with the show or the production and I’m not saying it won’t come back for season 11 with a new revamp or if all goes well. But he won’t be appearing in season 10. I’m focused on other things.
So, was it your choice to resign to clear up the rumors?
I made the choice, but generally the producers and I are not on the same page. So this was kind of a mutual decision. Because I had no part in anything they were trying to do in Season 9, but just to be clear, I’m not fired. I am still the Vice President of the Oppenheim Group. It’s just a show and a vision of it. And we aim to empower more women than we have in the past.
Amanza Smith Bre Tiessi, Brett Oppenheim, and Jason Oppenheim return to the cast. And Alex Hall from Selling the OC is also rumored to be coming. Is it true?
I’ve heard that too. I haven’t asked Jason about it. I guess that’s true depending on who you ask, but I didn’t actually ask Jason. When I talked to him yesterday, he was leaving the scene and was like, “Baby, I want you to come back.”
You’re friends with Heather Rey El Moussa, and it sounds like Christine Quinn gave you a bad feeling. What do you think about her return?
I have nothing against Christine…it’s a shame she changed her ways with the girl I used to know…she was a Texas girl and didn’t wear makeup. She would cook and we just had a good time.
She seemed like a normal, fun, wonderful girl. And I think fame has clawed at her a little bit. And she stopped seeing people as people and started seeing us as characters. So it was just one character doing something to another character and she forgot we were humans.
And that’s where I think things went bad, where I couldn’t get close to it anymore or protect her…I don’t hold a grudge. I think she’s a good fit for the show, especially with the whole recast… She’s very charismatic and funny and entertaining. I would love to have her back on the show.
How do the other cast members feel about her return?
I think [Bre Tiesi] I think it will be interesting. She knows from stories and just from learning what happened before, but Bre is Bre, and no one is going to threaten her.
[Heather Rae El Moussa] It’s a little more dangerous. She’s a big girl and has gotten a lot stronger over the years. [Tarek El Moussa]she says what she’s thinking now. And she’s not a big fan of Christine.
I will definitely watch over you. What’s next?
I don’t have much to do with OC or San Diego. They are doing much better than LA so I might be soon. Real estate in LA is terrible right now, so I was thinking of going to OC for the summer and starting a business that way. It’s like renting my house and renting the space below it…or maybe considering opening an office in an area like Montecito.
Looking back on your time on Selling Sunset — nine seasons have passed — is there anything you take away?
I’m very grateful for the program. I’m grateful for the platform I have. I think it opened a lot of doors, and it gave me a voice that I never would have had before, and I want to use it for good…I had to be tough.
I’ve always been very sensitive to criticism and judgment, and yeah, when you’re in this position, you have to be tougher on that, because everyone talks. Everyone says all sorts of things, but they don’t realize that you’re human, you have feelings, this is your real life, your real reputation. I’m very sensitive so I’ve definitely had to be tough, but that’s a good thing.
