Washington, DC, August 21, 2025 – A new analysis of the 2025 Fortune 500 list reveals that 46.2% (231 out of 500) of the largest American companies have been founded by immigrants or their children. These companies generated an astounding $8.6 trillion in revenue in 2024, employing more than 15.4 million people worldwide, highlighting the key role immigrants will play in fostering innovation, economic growth and job creation in the United States.

This is the highest level since 2011, since council researchers began tracking immigrant entrepreneurs in their annual review of immigrant entrepreneurs.
“Immigration is the driving force behind America’s prosperity. We need an immigration policy that reflects billions of dollars in detention, deportation and not making it extremely difficult for foreign workers to come here or renew their visas.
Companies founded by immigrants or their children continue to transform the entire industry, from technology to retail and media. Companies on the list include Amazon, Apple, Nvidia, Levi Strauss & Co., Ace Hardware and Sirius XM Holdings.

In 2024, these Fortune 500 companies, founded by immigrants or their children, generated $8.6 trillion in revenue. Collectively, these companies employ more than 15.4 million people worldwide, making them a labor force comparable to the population of the US’s fifth largest state. Immigrants and their children have established 80% of Fortune 500 companies in professional and other services, 65.6% of manufacturing and 57.5% of information. Of the 14 companies that first appeared on the Fortune 500 list this year, 10 were founded by immigrants or their children.
“Immigrants continue to compete in the economy by building almost half of Fortune 500 companies, creating millions of jobs, and even so, American political leaders are making it increasingly difficult for foreign talent to come or stay here: economic self-destruction.
