San Francisco, California, August 6, 2025 – New national votes from the project tomorrow and district Krasdojo reveal the growing gap between district priorities and the tools that can support them. 85% of district leaders say family involvement is a top priority for the 2025-26 academic year, but four in 10 say there’s still nothing needed to make it happen.
Based on nearly 260 responses from district leaders across the country, District Pulse Paul’s Classdojo highlights a clear contrast. Most districts rely on one-way communication, but the most effective approach is real-time, two-way connections at the classroom level.
“Most districts can send announcements, but what drives real engagement is two-way personal communication. The kind of relationships, trust, and better attendance.” “That’s the gap. That’s exactly what the district’s Classdojo is building to resolve.”
The Classdojo for district gives schools a way to communicate with their families, not just with the school. And family members don’t miss out on Beat. 80% of messages are read on the same day.
“Strong school-at-home connections are not an option. They are fundamental,” added Dr. Stevens. “The district leaders know this. They need the right tools to make those connections happen.”
Classdojo’s district-wide platform integrates all the districts and schools where families are informed, involved and engaged. The main features are:
Two-way messages using read receipts and real-time translation in over 130 languages. Districtwide announcements to share updates instantly across the community. Class and school stories with photos, videos and updates from teachers and leaders. Control secure, FERPA-compliant access controls so that the right messages reach the right families.
Classdojo in the district is completely free. It’s an important distinction as districts navigate tight budgets. The platform is entirely Phelpa, COPPA compliant, has earned a Conmon Sense privacy seal and we are confident that the community is protected by district leaders.
“These tools not only enhance communication, but also enhance connection,” added Dr. Stevens. “70% of district leaders say family involvement helps build trust, and over half say they improve student attendance.”
Additional key findings from the Pulse Poll are:
70% of school and district leaders say family involvement helps build trust in the school. 65% of leaders say that two-way communication apps are one of the most effective ways to provide information to their families. At 36%, attracting families who are engaging with student success is one of the most pressing challenges.
“Over the years, Project Tomorrow has looked at the evolving landscape of school-home communication,” said Julie A. Evans ed.D., CEO of Project Tomorrow. “In today’s educational environment, where student success is increasingly linked to consistent attendance and meaningful family engagement, we are proud to work with Classdojo to explore ways in which innovative digital platforms can support these priorities and improve student outcomes.”
