Sometimes experience is important
In the evolving world of digital education, effective video learning has emerged as one of the most powerful tools to attract learners and provide lasting impact. However, not all learning videos are created equally. What separates unforgettable clips from transformative learning experiences? The answer is often in experience. Especially for over 20 years.
Why is it important to create effective video learning?
With 20 years of instructional design and training delivery, we learned that effective video learning is not just about smooth visuals and trendy animations. It is about understanding the world of learners. Their challenges, their goals, and the decisions they face every day.
Therefore, we chose an approach rooted in role-based learning. Instead of typical one-size content, create videos that speak directly to the learner’s role. This is an entry-level position, a more experienced role, or a manager.
Role-based scenario: Create a learning stick
Imagine videos of new team leaders navigating difficult performance conversations, or videos of sales associates dealing with customers who hesitate. These are not abstract theories, but realistic scenarios that reflect the learners’ daily experiences. By embedding role-specific challenges in our video learning content, we are:
Learners quickly check their value to increase their relevance. It encourages engagement because the content feels personal. Improve retention as learners connect emotionally with challenging situations.
Turn your experience into insightful storytelling
Over the years we’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. We know how to:
Use microlearning to provide just-in-time insights. Build a story that reflects true workplace dynamics. It integrates decision points that encourage reflection and critical thinking.
This depth of experience helps to predict learners’ needs and design content. This is not only beneficial, but also readily useful in certain roles. This technique is used in virtual workshops, in-person courses, coaching sessions, and video learning.
A blend of pedagogy and production: The secrets of lasting learning
What is not only a video you can watch, but is it really memorable? It is a marriage of educational design and high quality production. Do not shoot any footage. Build a learning experience. Our background in working with many organizations allows us to provide actionable ideas while structuring content that supports engagement.
From scripting to storyboarding, we focus on the real-world dilemmas that experts face in real life. Whether you navigate stakeholder opposition in a project meeting or resolve team disputes under pressure, you need to create a scenario for authentic resonance. This association encourages learner engagement and ultimately changes in behavior.
Video period
You are still learning the optimal duration of your learning video. It really depends on the purpose, the audience, the content. In general, the shorter one is better. You will see that a two-minute video is more likely to be viewed to the end than a long video, but it depends on the content and learner. Serving content that has time can work.
content
It’s helpful to have a video that is clear and easily navigable, so that it has a very clear content agenda and something objective. It’s easy to see what the video is and how it benefits learners. We always remember that learners are very used to YouTube. This means you’re used to click on content and are used to irrelevant and great content.
Avatar
I use my avatar for several reasons. First and most importantly, it means that you have more flexibility in creating content to suit the needs of your learners. Secondly, it’s much easier to create content. The quality is now good, so learners should not worry about their avatars. In fact, it’s not that you don’t always notice. The flexibility to update content and change it in post-production is a big bonus. Also, using avatars to tailor to the learner and have an avatar that looks more like aesthetic is a great advantage. And my avatars get better every day. In other words, their reliability is constantly increasing.
Conclusion: Experience drives engagement
In a crowded world of online learning, experience is your differentiator. With over 20 years of insight, we know how to create effective video learning content that resonates with us as it is built around the role, reality and obstacles of learners. But we are still learning and need to offer as the market and customers evolve. And we must not forget that we are in the tech space. So what seems surprising today may look ancient in a very short time.
