What is Chinese New Year?
Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, marks the beginning of the lunar calendar. It is celebrated in many Asian cultures and includes family reunions, feasts, and traditional customs. People exchange red envelopes for good luck. Chinese New Year symbolizes rebirth, and the animals of the zodiac change every year.
Why is 2025 the Year of the Snake?
2025 is the year of the zodiac snake. The zodiac is a 12-year cycle, with each year represented by a different animal. Legend has it that the rankings were determined by races.
The Snake in the Chinese Zodiac is special because it represents wisdom, change, and mystery. People born in the year of the Snake are smart, thoughtful, and very good problem solvers.
Have your students color their own special snake using our festive Chinese New Year coloring pages.
