BURLINGTON, Va. (WCAX) – It’s been a heated debate over age and rhetoric. Gerald Malloy and Bernie Sanders may agree on some things, like cutting defense spending, securing borders, and loving families, but on divisive topics like climate change and abortion. Regarding this, it was not possible to stand at either extreme.
“I think he even said that all the scientists in the world believe we’re in an existential climate crisis, and that’s simply not true,” Malloy said.
“Vermont has overwhelmingly enshrined the right to abortion in its constitution, but when you think it’s okay for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, you’re representing Vermont,” Sanders said. Do you think there is?” he said.
Malloy, a West Point graduate and businessman, says he has what it takes to make Vermont’s economy more stable.
Sen. Sanders, who has served in the state Senate since 2007, says his record speaks for itself. “With my experience and seniority, I didn’t think I could walk away from representing Vermont during this difficult time,” he said.
The two brought the essence of the campaign to WCAX studios. Sanders said he wants a more progressive income tax to make health care more affordable, reduce military spending, especially in Israel, and regulate billionaire tech companies.
“Humanity has developed technology to increase productivity, and workers, not just big companies, should benefit from it,” Sanders said.
Malloy says he wants to take a tougher stance on immigration, put public safety front and center, and above all, oust Sen. Sanders and bring new blood to Congress from Vermont.
No matter which candidate’s message resonates with you, you can vote for him on November 5th.
