Holiday quotes to make the season fun and bright
We don’t usually associate e-learning with warm fuzzies, but maybe it’s time to start. After all, whether you’re an instructional designer building courses from scratch or a small business providing subject matter expertise to your organization, you play an important role in broadening horizons and nurturing talent. is playing. That’s why we thought we’d bring you seven inspiring holiday quotes for more inspiration.
7 quotes to keep Scrooge’s attitude at bay
1. “Children, Christmas isn’t a date. It’s a state of mind.” – Mary Ellen Chase
E-Learning experts who truly make a difference have one thing in common. It’s a passion for lifelong learning. It’s a mindset that leads to truly inspired design. The same rules apply to learners. Encouraging them to have a thirst for knowledge, rather than treating training as an isolated event, can reap multiple benefits.
2. “I never thought it would be such a bad little tree. Really, it’s not bad at all. Maybe it just needs a little love.” – Charlie Brown
We’ve all encountered a course, module, or activity that needs a little tweaking. It may be something you created a while ago, or you may be tasked with the often difficult task of updating content developed by another eLearning professional. Just like with the “sad” Charlie Brown tree, if you change your perspective, you can see beyond the sparse branches and find ways to add magical touches that enhance the learning experience.
3. “The great thing about Christmas is that it’s like a thunderstorm, and we get through it together.” – Garrison Keillor
There are certain aspects of e-learning design that are less preferred than others, but that doesn’t make them any less necessary if you want to achieve your goals. The advantage is that you can trust the e-learning network to get you through and maybe even sympathize with them. You may also find that they love tasks or phases of a project that you simply hate (saying it in your best Grinch voice).
4. “When I think back to Christmases past, I realize that it is often the simplest events, not the extraordinary ones, that emit the greatest spark of happiness.” – Bob Hope
It’s the little things that are important. From navigation controls to focusing on a single topic to avoid cognitive overload, simplicity is often key when building memorable eLearning experiences. Rather than getting overwhelmed by the project as a whole, you should focus on individual elements and make sure they reflect your goals and objectives. Learners appreciate seemingly small touches that make content more relevant to them.
5. “One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess that happens in your living room on Christmas Day.” – Andy Rooney
Sometimes things don’t go as planned. However, even if things get confusing while working on certification courses or quick knowledge reviews, the reason behind it is to bring about a change in the lives of the learners. Sure, there may be some virtual confusion along the way, but a little design confusion can ultimately be impactful, engaging, and motivating, especially if you’re focused on a desired outcome. It can lead to things that increase.
6. “Any gift, no matter how small, is actually great if it is given with love.” – Pindar
It’s always about the idea behind it. This is why successful eLearning professionals don’t just tick boxes and rush through the process to deliver deliverables in record time. Everything we include, whether it’s images or interactive elements, has been carefully created or curated with the needs of our learners in mind.
7. “Don’t ever grow up to look in the sky on Christmas Eve.” – Unknown
Surprise is at the heart of e-learning. Imagination and creativity are the greatest tools at your disposal when developing content. And learners are never too young or too old to embark on an educational adventure.
